From basic needs to long-term growth, we help people overcome hardship and achieve success through unity, care, and community action.”
Sudanese Family Resource was founded in 2021 with a clear mission
To support, uplift, and empower the Sudanese community in San Diego, California. What began as a grassroots effort to connect and assist local families has grown into a vital resource hub for immigrants, refugees, and underrepresented minorities across the region.
We offer a range of services designed to help individuals and families build strong, independent lives. From youth programs and housing assistance to food support, job training, and economic development, our programs are rooted in the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
At the core of our work are the values of empowerment, education, and self-sufficiency. We believe that when people are equipped with the right tools and support, they can create lasting change -not only in their own lives, but in their communities.
Sudanese Family Resource is more than a service provider – we are a bridge between cultures, a source of strength, and a growing community where people can find hope, connection, and the resources they need to move forward.
Building Stronger Communities, One Family at a Time.

What began as a small effort to help neighbors has grown into a trusted organization serving immigrants, refugees, and minorities. From food and housing aid to youth mentorship and job training, we empower families to thrive-guided by a vision of a connected, self-sufficient, and hopeful community
Sudanese Family Resource is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that was founded in 2021 in San Diego, California, out of a deep desire to support and uplift Sudanese families adjusting to life in a new country. The founders saw firsthand the challenges that immigrants and refugees face — language barriers, lack of access to resources, unfamiliar systems, and feelings of isolation.
Our history What began as a small community effort to help neighbors navigate daily life has grown into a trusted organization serving not only the Sudanese community, but also immigrants, refugees, and underrepresented minorities from all backgrounds.
In the early days, support came in the form of food drives, housing help, and assistance with job applications. As needs grew, so did the organization. We expanded to offer youth mentorship programs, job training, economic development initiatives, and cultural bridging programs to help families build self-sufficient, empowered lives.
Every step of our journey has been guided by a simple but powerful vision: a thriving, connected community where every person has the opportunity to succeed.
We believe every life matters. Through service, outreach, and education, we work to create equity, hope, and lasting change.
