At Sudanese Family Resource, we believe in full transparency and responsible stewardship of every contribution we receive.
Your donation helps provide vital services like healthcare, housing, food, and education to underserved families. Every contribution creates real, lasting impact—one life at a time.
Donate to Sudanese Family Resource and help us provide critical support to refugees, immigrants, and underrepresented communities. Every gift brings hope, healing, and opportunity.
We rely on government grants, foundations, donations, and fundraising to support our programs. Using fund accounting, we carefully track all income and expenses, ensuring transparency and honoring donor intent. Restricted and unrestricted funds are managed separately for clarity and accountability.
The primary sources of funds for the Sudanese Family Resource’s programs are government and county fundings and foundations. Other forms of funding include individual donations, fund raising, corporate sponsorships, and event revenue. but it also varies from program to program, for instance there are fundings that can only be used for specific program and nothing else therefore it just depends on the program.
We use “Fund accounting” which is a type of transaction that involves recording all the donations received by the organization from individuals, as well as the expenses associated with fundraising activities. These include the salaries of staff members, program services, and administrative costs. Depending on the type of donations that the organization receives, the expenses are categorized based on the restricted or unrestricted nature of the funds.
When it comes to recording transactions for a non-profit organization, it’s important to ensure that the funds are properly categorized and classified according to the restrictions of the donors. This ensures that the financial reports are accurate and reflect the donors’ intent. For our organization we keep separate bank accounts between restricted funds and unrestricted funds which would make things a lot easier.
Sudanese Family Resource is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that was founded in 2021 in San Diego, California, out of a deep desire to support and uplift Sudanese families adjusting to life in a new country. The founders saw firsthand the challenges that immigrants and refugees face language barriers, lack of access to resources, unfamiliar systems, and feelings of isolation.
